10 Upcoming Movies With INSANE Budgets
10. Wake Up Dead Man ($210 Million)
Though the first two Knives Out movies are undeniably brilliantly made, star-studded affairs, they're also modest-ish productions by Hollywood standards, given that they're set in a limited number of locations and don't require oodles of CGI.
As such, Knives Out cost a mere $40 million, and while the price tag for the Netflix-backed sequel Glass Onion has never been officially released, it's likely in a similar ballpark.
But for the third entry into the franchise, Wake Up Dead Man, director Rian Johnson will be working with a $210 million budget according to Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider.
To be clear, that's more than five-times what the original cost, and while it stands to reason that Johnson, Daniel Craig, and the rest of the cast will be commanding hefty upfront paydays to offset the lack of theatrical residuals, that's still an outrageous amount to spend on a murder mystery movie.
Now of course, everyone and their mother will be watching Wake Up Dead Man when it releases on streaming on December 12, but given the stonkingly huge budget, it feels like they're leaving money on the table by not giving it a proper theatrical rollout first.
