Orphan: First Kill is a film that categorically shouldn't have worked at all, given that this prequel to 2009's cult horror Orphan brought a now-adult Isabelle Fuhrman back to reprise the role of Esther - an adult woman with a hormone disorder which causes her to resemble a child.

While it's undeniably silly seeing Fuhrman portraying a younger version of "Esther" in the prequel - achieved by not-terribly-convincing makeup and forced perspective shots - the film has enough giddy surprises up its sleeve to just about get away with it.

Despite First Kill seemingly stretching its internal credibility to snapping point, director William Brent Bell confirmed last December that a third film is officially in development, with Fuhrman once again set to reprise her role.

Needless to say, with every passing year it'll only seem more ridiculous for Furhman to play this part, especially given that Esther dies in the original Orphan, so the new film basically has to take place between First Kill and the original.

We can only hope the end product is gloriously campy enough to make the ridiculous casting acceptable once again.
