10 Video Game Movies That Were Truly Terrible

10. Assassin's Creed (2016)

Over the last few years, Michael Fassbender has been a key element in the success of many box office films. However, this was a muddled blunder and it's clear the Assassin's Creed franchise and its story are best left in video games. Some fan research may have gone a long way when the team began writing and planning this film, as it manages to focus on the most tedious aspects possible.

While there are undoubtedly people who enjoy the Animus plotline in-game, most players attempted to skip through these scenes as quickly as possible, and honestly you can't blame them.

It would be completely illogical to focus on this story element, but the film doubled down on it with a disappointing return. The resulting Assassin's Creed film included all the boring present day scenes from the game, while removing the freedom to plot a bloodthirsty assassination as a reward for sitting through exposition.

Despite making a small profit, critics were not impressed. It also seems that the fan base has quickly forgotten about the attempt to make a new hit franchise from the gaming series. At least the video games managed to continue down their own path and eventually stop reminding players of the tedious MacGuffin that is the Apple of Eden.
