10 Ways 2017 Movies Definitely Made Us Dumber

10. We Watched Some Pretty Bad R-Rated Comedies

It seems our collective sense of humour didn’t get any more refined or intelligent over the course of 2017 as we spent a good part of the year lapping up lowbrow R-rated comedies brimming with toilet humour and juvenile jokes.

To be fair, the state of comedy in 2017 wasn’t entirely awful. There were some exceptions like Girls Trip – which although R-rated gets a pass because it was genuinely funny, critically acclaimed and gave us some handy grapefruit serving suggestions – and a few indie comedy gems.

But for every Ingrid Goes West or I, Tonya there was a Baywatch or Bad Mom’s Christmas or some other equally unfunny and crude movie like Snatched or Rough Night where two hours of dick jokes pass for comedy.

That doesn't necessarily mean that we want the sort of intellectual jokes you need a degree in quantum physics to understand just maybe a little less reliance on toilet humour in 2018, ok Hollywood?
