10 Weird & Creepy Moments In David Lynch Films

3. The Mystery Man €“ Lost Highway (1997)

Lost Highway, one of Lynch€™s most consistently underrated features, is about a man (played by Bill Pullman) who gets framed for the murder of his wife and sent to prison, before mysteriously changing into a young mechanic and living a new life. It€™s one of Lynch€™s boldest films in terms of narrative choice i.e. the main character and actor completely changing half-way through, and is notable for Lynch€™s use of soundtrack music instead of just Angelo Badalamenti's written score. One of the film's creepy highlights is when a character known only as the €œMystery Man€ (played by Robert Blake) approaches Pullman€™s character at a party. He tells him that they€™ve met before and that he€™s at his house right now. Pullman doesn€™t believe him so the man tells him to €œCall me.€ He does and the man seemingly answers the phone, in two places at once. It's a fine example of how Lynch can take a normal situation and spin it into the realm of the weird and creepy.
