Unfortunately, tracking down a clip of this scene is surprisingly difficult, so you'll have to make do with the above one instead. Orson Welles showing up in The Muppets Movie comes from that ever-enjoyable tradition of serious actors taking a breather and spending a few minutes inside something a little more fun. Welles plays Lew Lord, a cigar-smoking studio executive who helps The Muppets gain mainstream exposure, and while as a child Welles' appearance of course flies completely over our heads, as adults, it's absolutely a mind-blowing moment. Though Welles is frequently regarded as an artiste above all else, this cameo and his vocal work on Transformers: The Movie above all suggests that he wasn't beyond kicking back and taking part in something a bit less heady and cerebral (and aimed at children, no less). More than mere stunt casting, though, Welles fully encompasses the real-life inspiration for the story; the man who helped Jim Henson gain the audience he did, TV mogul Lord Lew Grade.
