Every girl loves a project, and what's more of a project than attempting to civilize a man who was brought up by apes? Tarzan is one of the more physical Disney heroes (he's like 95% muscle), and inspiration for his vine-swinging antics was drawn from the physicality of surfers. Every girl growing up in the 90s had a thing for surfers, probably in large part because of the popularity of Disney Channel Original Movies, which seemed to feature extreme sports like surfing, snowboarding, and rollerblading in every other film. But more than any of that, Tarzan defies expectations. Despite the fact that he was raised in the jungle, he has a surprisingly gentle soul and is a quick learner. Juxtaposing him and Clayton, a more traditional masculine figure, makes it even more obvious why Jane is drawn to him. And for the record, that scene where he takes off her glove and they touch hands is probably one of the most sensual moments in all of Disney canon.
