10 What If? MCU Scenarios Marvel Should Explore
Turns out Vision might be secretly evil.
Marvel's recently announced 2021 What If? TV series certainly has no shortage of comic material to reference from. The main What If? comic series managed to span twelve volumes and a stunning 200+ issues to match it, all complete with wild and wonderful alternative scenarios to the comics that have made our heroes what they are today.
As much as it is clear that some of the shows episodes will vary from copying the comics - as cast inclusions like Michael Rooker as Yondu and Micheal B. Jordan's Killmonger show the series will feature characters who weren't in the What If? comic - this doesn't entirely close the door on the House of Ideas including some of their best comic issues to date.
Indeed, with the sheer amount of comics to take inspiration from, it seems impossible that a few choice picks will sneak their way onto the big screen, especially with how insanely good many of the concepts manage to be.
With heroes turning evil, villains turning good, and even a surprise presidency run from Captain America, it's safe to say that there are a metric ton of What If? comics that more than deserve to be considered for the show.
10. What If Loki Had Found The Hammer Of Thor? (Volume 1, Issue #47)
The What If? issue that covers how the Marvel Universe would have changed were Loki to have wielded Thor's hammer is a case of a comic where the concept is perhaps better than the execution. Instead of giving Loki the actual hammer, we are essentially shown what would happen were Loki to find a version of the hammer that had transformed into...a stick.
Not a cool wooden bo-staff or tanto, but the kind of stick a dog would refuse to play fetch with.
It's still an interesting exploration of how Loki would react to essentially be given Thor's powers, but an adaption would arguably make the premise even better, as seeing Loki use the actual hammer would make the whole thing so much better.
Anyone who has ever been interesting in exploring the dynamic between Thor and Loki and their odd sibling dynamic should wait with baited breath for this potential episode, as this would open the proverbial Pandora's box in terms of Loki's feelings of unworthiness.
