3. "It's All Downhill After The First Kiss" - Man Of Steel
Again, perhaps a stretch to describe this as brilliant in some people's eyes, but Zack Snyder's take on DC's big blue boyscout works pretty well overall. The film is a pretty serious affair for the most part (which is fine.. not every superhero flick has to be "fun"), but Snyder chooses an odd moment to attempt to try to inject a bit of levity. Following his destructive battle with the Kryptonians, Supes flies over to Lois and the tow snog the face off each other, after which the lady exclaims: "They say it's all downhill after the first kiss", and Kent responds with: "I think that only applies if you're kissing a human." Where to begin... For starters the two characters hadn't shared nearly enough screen time prior to this for us to buy them suddenly developing such strong feeling for one another, and it's obvious a scene of them kissing was tacked on because, well, that's what Superman and Lois Lane do, right? It's also just a cheesy line, delivered poorly with over-exaggerated fluster by an ordinarily fine actress - and was that seriously the best comeback they could conjure for Supes? At least something like, "well, I did just level an entire city so I'm not sure how much worse it can get!" would've been funny.
