10 Worst Movie Characters Of 2020 (So Far)

10. Dr. John Dolittle (Robert Downey Jr.) - Dolittle

Not merely content to be one of the worst movies of 2020 to date, Dolittle also put Robert Downey Jr. in the embarrassing position of trying to prop up the dud blockbuster with his inherent charms.

Unfortunately, he failed.

In addition to being one of the few genuinely bad performances in the actor's career, John Dolittle as a character just isn't much fun to be around at all.

Beyond warbling most of his dialogue through an ambiguous "Welsh" accent, Dolittle makes for a curiously charmless protagonist, trying desperately to fill the self-consciously eccentric hero void left wide open by Johnny Depp in recent years.

It certainly didn't help endear the character to audiences that a massive chunk of his dialogue was clearly piped in during post-production, and the film climaxes with an infamously nightmarish sequence in which Dolittle performs a colonoscopy on a dragon, finding his innards gummed up with bagpipes and a suit of armour.

As ill-conceived as this movie was from the ground-up, it didn't even have the good sense to exploit Downey Jr.'s penchant for witty repartee. Instead, the title character was a creepy, annoyingly mumbly weirdo.
