8. Anthony Michael Hall Mike Engel (The Dark Knight)
Okay, so this one is probably less about the performance itself than the casting, which admittedly is very dickish. But hey, Cest la vie. Mike Engel is a news caster who is overly serious to the point of parody. His moral stance against Batman is reminiscent of a blowhard from Fox News, and his soap boxing is infuriating. As a character this isnt actually a bad idea, and its this attention to detailed characterisation that sets Nolans Gotham apart from Burton and Schumachers versions. But Anthony Michael Hall? Really? He seems like hes probably an okay guy, but he just doesnt really have the chops for this part. Or maybe he does, but its just impossible to see past the little kid in Sixteen Candles who talked Molly Ringwald into giving him her panties.
