10 Worst Sequels Of 2014

3. Dumb And Dumber To

Sitting down to Dumb and Dumber To, the incredibly belated - and ultimately unnecessary - sequel to Dumb and Dumber (which first hit screens in 1994), you're made certain of one thing: it isn't destined, like its predecessor was, to become a comedy classic. This realisation stems, of course, from an all-encompassing feeling that the filmmakers, the Farrelly Brothers - who lost their funny bones years ago - are just trying too hard. The original flick, of course, came free; a product without expectations. The most painful parts of Dumber and Dumber To occur at the points where you realise that, beneath all the vulgarity, slapstick, and the moments that make you cringe (not in a good way), there could have been a good comedy movie in here. There are flashes of comic greatness, but they're just that: flashes. You might admire Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels for their willingness to return to such iconic territory all these years later, but mostly you just feel sorry for them: the bad joke ratio is just too high.
