5. Corrupting Harvey Dent - The Dark Knight

Poor Harvey, a decent man in an indecent time.

Betrayed and kidnapped by corrupt officers in the GCPD, a fortuitous turn of events lead to half of Harvey's face getting burnt off and his beloved Rachel Dawes blowing up.

Held at one of several hospitals in danger of a Joker terror attack, Harvey meets the man himself (sporting a ver interesting disguise). The Joker's chat introduces him to the notion of living his life by chaos and chance, breaking free of the conventional notions of right and wrong he'd upheld to that point. With little left to live for beyond revenge, Dent is given a gun and flips that famous coin to decide whether or not the green-haired menace will be spared. Joker seemingly agrees but look where his index finger is...

With a finger on the hammer, Joker knows the gun will never go off. Lying through his teeth, Joker convinces Harvey he was innocent of his and Rachel's kidnappings, lets him believe he holds some power when he flips the coin and then sends him off as the latest brutal killer on the streets.

Taking one of Gotham's finest and reducing him to the level of evil and hatred he used to fight is something else. Destroying Gotham wasn't just about ruining the city, Joker's real objective was far worse: ruining its people.
