10 X-Men Characters Who Deserve Their Own Spin-Off

3. Gambit

Speaking of gambling... Well this one is a bit of a cheat, because now that Channing Tatum (read: the guy Hollywood wants to be a big action star) has been cast as Gambit, a spin-off Gambit film is a given. In fact, it has officially been announced - but fans still wanted to see it long before Tatum was cast as the character, so it arguably deserves this high of a ranking. Gambit's the mysterious loner, the rogue, the guy with the dark and mysterious past. That makes for solid film material. The fact that Gambit was a thief, at least in origin, put him at odds with the X-Men early on, and that fact can also be mined for material on the big screen. A movie adaptation featuring him screams origin story, and that's likely what fans will get. Will Rogue be there? Any other X-Men? Time will tell. Gambit happened to be quite popular in the 90s, between the comics and the animated show on Fox (which happened to do an animated version of Days of Future Past long before the movie of the same name), and he has numerous fans as a result. Here's to hoping this film lives up to expectations.
