1. Blade Runner 2049 Doesn't Resolve The Deckard Cliffhanger
With Blade Runner 2049 coming some 35 years after the original movie, many fans are no doubt hoping that director Denis Villeneuve will finally resolve the cliffhanger surrounding Deckard's identity: is he really human, or in fact a replicant as is commonly believed?
Don't get your hopes up for an answer either way, though, because as Ridley Scott and Harrison Ford themselves can't even agree, why would they bother ruining one of cinema's great mysteries when it can just keep enduring?
Plus, Villeneuve is a director noted for his restrained approach to drama, so keeping the enigma alive feels very much within his wheelhouse.
This sequel can easily come and go without needing to answer the question, and as all involved are essentially damned if they do or don't resolve the cliffhanger, it probably makes sense to take the more vague and less-radical approach of non-commitment.
