1. It's Just Too Silly For Its Own Good

There are Moore Bond movies that skate on a razor's edge of silliness and manage to pull it off - namely, Moonraker - though Octopussy sadly isn't one of them.

It's a film that's frequently ridiculous yet mostly lacking in charm and cheek. From Bond's early mustachioed disguise to him riding a plane to a gas station and asking for a fill-up - complete with a cheesy freeze-frame - to him swinging on vines complete with a Tarzan yell (the series' worst sound effect since The Man with the Golden Gun's slide whistle) and riding inside a mini-sub disguised as a crocodile, it's just too much.

It amounts to a film that thoroughly wastes director John Glen's eye for impactful visuals, and sadly, it wouldn't even be the last one to squander his talents. Up next, Moore's swan song: A View to a Kill. Brace yourselves.
