1. Godzilla Toys Completely Derailed The Mystery Of What He Looked Like

The Secret: TriStar did a terrific job marketing Roland Emmerich's (ultimately terrible) 1998 Godzilla movie, refusing to show more than the creature's foot in trailers and posters, as was a perfect tease to get people in the cinema. How It Was Spoiled: The toy line completely blew the campaign by putting the toys on shelves shortly before the movie came out, providing a complete (and not to mention absurdly disappointing) glimpse of what Godzilla looked like. Could this have contributed to the movie's rather disappointing box office haul? Curiously there was a little karmic justice for Trendmasters, the company who manufactured the toys, as disappointing sales of their Godzilla figures is generally accepted to have contributed to them going out of business a few years later. Which huge movie secrets do you wish the studios didn't ruin for you? Shout it out in the comments!
