12 Best Horror Movies Since The Year 2000

Cabin In The Woods is not on this list because it is not really a horror movie. It is a self-aware dramady that poses a question to the audience: why do you like watching characters suffer these horrible fates? Why does (witnessing) pain give you pleasure? That same sort of meta self-awareness is present in Resolution, but it manages to ask similar questions without shedding the horrifying nature and style of the genre.

Without giving too much away, Resolution is about a guy who goes out to a cabin in the woods (yeah, yeah) to force his best friend to kick a drug habit. One is literally handcuffed there and the other is bound to him (to keep him alive over the course of his withdrawal).

Over a few days, however, it seems that there is another more sinister presence whose intentions are malevolent though its motives are unclear. No more spoilers; watch this movie!
