The Theory: Shane Black's upcoming Predator reboot-sequel will serve as a set-up for a third Alien vs. Predator movie.
Why It Can't Be True: Simply, it's hard to imagine someone as talented as Shane Black wanting to go anywhere near an AvP movie, and it's not like either of the prior movies were well-reviewed or box office smash hits.
But..What If?: One of the film's stars, Keegan-Michael Key, stated that Black considers the AvP movies canon, which is what got this theory going in the first place. Quite why Key would even mention AvP if it didn't have some bearing on the plot of The Predator is anyone's guess.
Plus, with Fox giving Black a huge budget and reportedly wanting him to reinvent the franchise as a blockbuster behemoth, it makes sense that the film would open up doors for a wider cinematic universe.
