With Ant-Man, Age Of Ultron and Fantastic Four all coming in 2015 it's easy to forget that there's another comic book movie sneaking out thanks to Mark Millar's never knowingly subtle work in The Secret Service. The film - somewhat inevitably directed by Matthew Vaughn - will focus on the odd couple dynamic of a secret service veteran (Colin Firth) and his young wayward nephew in whom he sees unlikely potential and sneaks into the backdoor of MI6. Quite how close Vaughn sticks to Millar's original text remains to be seen - he took some liberties in Kick-Ass after all - but the ultimate arc that the spy Jack London (renamed Harry Hart for the film) will end up dying to add interest to the younger man's arc (like the Heroic Death of Obi-Wan Kenobi) seems assured. Vaughn likes to play with audience expectations and killing Firth, who has been the main marketing tool of the film's sparse campaign so far would also fit with that mischievous spirit.
