What The Critics Said: Though most reviewers agreed that Aardman Animations' latest effort didn't live up to their most beloved hits, it was still widely lauded for its spritely animation, witty humour and game vocal performances.
Why It Actually Sucked: Does anyone actually remember that this movie even came out this year? Early Man is an almost completely forgettable, oddly workmanlike animated offering from Aardman that relies on surprisingly basic humour while failing to deliver charming characters or an entertaining plot.
Considering it's director Nick Park's first feature film in 13 years, Aardman fans no doubt expected him to deliver a far more persuasive offering. This just feels like table scraps lazily cobbled together amid a rushed production.
