12 Greatest Ever Disney Trailers
7. Frozen - For The First Time In Forever Trailer
Few of the people who watched Frozen’s early teasers expected it to become the phenomenon we know today. The first teaser was a cartoonish Ice Age-style skit featuring comic relief characters Olaf and Sven fighting over a carrot, whilst the second emulated the adventure comedy approach previously used in the marketing for Tangled.
Then, with just a month to go until the film premiered, Frozen released one last trailer which FINALLY gave us a proper look at the story. There was still room for goofy comedy from Olaf, but this trailer was the first one to truly demonstrate the distinctive tone and personality of the movie.
The trailer began with a short poem that outlined the plot and confirmed that Queen Elsa would be a well-meaning but anxious protagonist instead of a traditional baddie. However, for all the big reveals about the story, plenty of mysteries remained.
Most of the key scenes from Frozen appeared, but they were generally shown extremely briefly, meaning that the various twists and turns of the second half remained concealed. The trailer even introduced audiences to Anna’s signature song “For The First Time In Forever”, demonstrating the big, epic musical style which would eventually make the Frozen soundtrack so inescapable.
The trailer concluded with the claim the Frozen would be “the Greatest Disney Animated Event since The Lion King”, and after seeing all the action and drama packed into this two-minute clip, it was hard to disagree.
