12. Godzilla - First Sighting Of Godzilla

In Godzilla, the still-underrated first Monster-Verse film, Godzilla himself made a surprisingly late entrance in the film about an hour through.

In fact, this was more or less the first clear glimpse we got of him, since he hadn't been seen properly throughout the film's fantastic marketing campaign. Therefore, there was a hell of a lot of build-up, but it certainly paid off.

In this scene, a MUTO (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism) is attacking a Hawaiian airport and Godzilla emerges from the sea to confront it.

There are various tracking shots of Godzilla's legs and lower torso as he strides through the streets. Locals send flares up high... but they don't even reach the monster's head, showing just how huge he is.

Moments later, as the airport burns, Godzilla arrives, still mostly off-screen. And then... the camera slowly tilts upwards to finally reveal Godzilla in all his glory and he lets out his iconic roar.

What an incredible entrance.
