12. Godzilla Vs Mothra - Mothra Vs Godzilla (1964)

Contrary to popular belief, Godzilla isn't the only Toho monster series. The studio created other kaiju-based movies including War of the Gargantuas, Frankenstein Conquers the World, and Space Amoeba. Although a lot of these films didn't do well, Mothra, which revolves around a gigantic butterfly, was a hit, inspiring Toho to do a crossover with Godzilla.

In Mothra vs Godzilla, (not to be confused with a completely different movie called Godzilla vs Mothra), the Japanese army encourage Mothra to stop Godzilla after he decimates a city.

Now, having a 400ft tall dinosaur fighting a flying insect sounds ridiculous but Mothra has proven to be one of Godzilla's greatest opponents. In fact, Godzilla has NEVER beaten Mothra. Every time they go head-to-head, the prehistoric lizard gets his ass handed to him.

In their first encounter, Mothra absolutely annihilates him. She spews Godzilla with asphyxiation powder, drags him around by the tail, and flaps her wings, creating a gale powerful enough to knock him to the ground.

Mothra is so powerful, she doesn't have to defeat Godzilla... her babies do! After her larvae hatch, they cover Godzilla in silk, immobilising him.
