12. Black Widow (Black Widow)

When Natasha Romanova got killed off in Avengers: Endgame, fans were shocked. Her death came shortly after the announcement of her own solo MCU movie, something which we'd be waiting for for years, and it was assumed the film would be a continuation of her story after Endgame.

It's since been revealed Black Widow (out in May this year) will be a prequel, focusing both on Nat's past before she became an Avenger, as well as a time period after Captain America: Civil War, but before the Infinity Saga.

In many ways, this makes her solo film more intriguing - we now know the outcome of Scarlett Johansson's heroine, and it makes the story more tragic as a result, as we know what she's heading towards.

There's very likely to be some sort of reference to her death in the film and unless Marvel decide to pull the rug under us and find a way to reverse her death from the past, it's possible this is the last time we get to see this beloved character.
