Terminator Salvation achieves a number of series firsts: its the first movie whose plot doesnt revolve around 2 terminators sent through time, and the first where John Connor is played by an Oscar winner. But all anyone remembers is that it was also the first Terminator to underperform at the box office. The reason for that is simple after 2 more of the same sequels, people who wanted to see the same movie for the fourth time were aghast at a film that darkened the tone, changed the setting and was rated PG-13. And the director was McG, the auteur behind 2 Charlies Angels movies. Anyone who was sick of the formula, however, especially after the Lovecraftian horror that was Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines, got a really cool action movie with Harvester Terminators, HK-Aerials and Moto-terminators. Kudos to McG for not taking the easy way out and making the Greatest Hits package that Terminator Genisys turned out to be.
