It's undeniable that as people get older, they become infinitely less trusting of people as a whole and, indeed, corporations that make movies. You come to realise that these companies aren't just making movies for your pleasure, but as you begin to pump money into going to the cinema yourself, it becomes apparent that this is a financial consideration first and foremost. Furthermore, as most people age, they tend to find earnestness irritating and edge closer towards cynicism and perhaps even close-mindedness. You're more likely to care about tonal shifts, apparent sexism or racism and unsavoury context, which as a kid you were neither aware of nor cared at all about. As you age, you're more likely to approach a project with skepticism (especially if it's a sequel, remake or reboot) and frankly, that's an unavoidable part of growing up for the most part.
