7. Star Trek: Planet Of The Titans - The Alternative Motion Picture
Before the plan for Star Trek: The Motion Picture, there was Star Trek: Planet Of The Titans, Unlike the earlier A Question Of Cannibalism-based movie Gene Roddenberry was developing, this film actually gained traction in its development. So much so that a director and production designer was hired and Ralph McQuarrie - who designed much of the artwork for Star Wars - was brought on board to sketch images based on the unfinished script. Star Trek: Planet Of The Titans saw Starfleet attempting to claim the mythical home world of the Titans, a technologically-advanced dead race in competition with the Klingons. Kirk and the crew of the USS Enterprise would have encountered an alien race called the Cygnans, who were responsible for the disappearance of the Titans. The Titan's planet would end up being sucked into a black hole with the USS Enterprise, sending Kirk and his crew back in time to a stone-age era Earth. Kirk would have introduced fire to the cavemen on the planet, in essence becoming the legendary Titans. It certainly sounds more thrilling then the first Star Trek film, which forgot to have an actual plot.
