The Infinity Saga is now over and Marvel stands on the precipice of a new era and a whole new future. But thanks to the twin end-points of the First Age Of The MCU as it should probably be known were so incredibly well-crafted that it will be impossible to ever forget what came up to this point.

The run-up to the release of Avengers: Endgame was an opportunity to reflect on the first decade of Marvel Studio's sprawling franchise and most fans took to rewatching all of the movies as a near-religious experience. This won't be the last they're watched, of course, but knowing that it would all come to a head in Endgame changed the experience somewhat. Added to it, in fact.

And it seems particularly fitting on the verge of Endgame's release that we look back at the other side of its incredible coin...

12. Thanos' First Line

After a film filled with action, banter and more death than a late Frank Miller comic, trying to remember Thanos’ first line in the movie is like trying to remember the least interesting thing you ever ate for lunch.

But the line - ‘I know what it’s like to lose. To feel so desperately that you’re right, but to fail, nonetheless’ – appears incredibly important in terms of thinking about Endgame. Not only is it the exact mood the heroes will be going into the film with, this kind of bond Thanos attempts to build between hero and villain will unmistakably be played with in the later film.

As we come into the end of the Infinity War film series, it’s also worth thinking about its beginning – as potential foreshadowing, if nothing else.
