For Your Eyes Only ends in howlingly embarrassing fashion, as Bond is patched through to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (Janet Brown), but 007 isn't having any of it.

Instead, he leaves Kristatos' parrot to answer the call, with "Thatcher" being unable to tell the difference between the parrot's shrill voice and Bond's, even getting flustered when the bird tells her, "Give us a kiss."

It's incredibly jarring to see Thatcher appear if only because it feels like an overzealous attempt to ground the film in our own reality, and really, does anyone want to see Thatcher's mug at the end of some escapist entertainment?

At least the scene seems to be making fun of her, and the appearance of Thatcher's oafish husband Denis (John Wells) does provide a genuine chuckle.

But seriously, why? Can you imagine the outrage if the next Bond movie featured a Teresa May lookalike? Christ.
