9. ...But It's Still The Best-Looking Bond Film Ever
Even with the film's CGI issues, it's still easily the most ravishingly-assembled Bond film to date, and the man largely responsible for that is, of course, recently Oscar-winning cinematographer Roger Deakins.
The legendary lenser brings his penchant for eye-wateringly gorgeous visuals to the table, ensuring that every scene, from simple dialogues to riotous action sequences, are gloriously dynamic, colourful and cinematic.
The obvious highlights are the Shanghai sequence and the finale, but there's not a dull-looking scene in the entire film. Deakins incredulously lost out on a Best Cinematography Oscar to the digitally-crafted visuals of Life of Pi, and had to wait six more years to finally scoop the award outright for his sublime work on Blade Runner 2049.
Even the better-looking Bond movies over the years can't really hold a candle to Mendes and Deakins' absurd attention-to-detail here. Can we get a 4K Blu-ray already!?
