Who Actually Won?Philip Seymour-Hoffman for Capote Look, Philip Seymour-Hoffman was a great actor - the proof was in the pudding. But his performance as Truman Capote boiled down to an accent, as controversial a statement as that is. Heath Ledger, on the other hand, turned in one of the most subtly moving performances not only of the year, but of the decade. A true oversight. Depressingly, they're both dead now. Such a waste, but at least Ledger posthumously won a gong for The Dark Knight.
