Sony, you got three movies out of this franchise. Was that really not enough?
With last summer's Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation posting the biggest box office returns of the franchise, Sony decided that there was no need to quit at a trilogy, and quickly confirmed a fourth film for a 2021 bow.
Now, none of the films in this series have been more than watchable, generic animations, but one suspects critical and audience patience might start running out when we get four movies deep into the unlikely series.
Expect it to have a gimmicky premise, score mixed-negative reviews and probably make a ton of bank, even though just about everybody who sees it will forget they did within a week or so.
Could It Be Any Good?: Intensely unlikely. Again, none of these movies have been flat-out bad, but the series has coasted on a lack of wit and imagination since the beginning, so number four shouldn't veer from the successful formula.
