12 Worst Casting Decisions In Spider-Man Movies

7. James Franco As Harry Osborn (Spider-Man)

James Franco was something as of an odd choice to play a pivotal character like Harry Osborn in the original Spider-Man series, and while he wasn't terrible, it's difficult to take the man seriously.

The problem here is that Franco has played one too many deadbeat stoners during his career, and his CV lacked anything remotely similar to Spider-Man before the original film debuted.

Even after three films it's a big ask to buy him as Peter's best friend-turned-nemesis. Try watching Pineapple Express or Your Highness and then convince yourself that this is a guy who should be piloting a glider.

And this is one of those cases where the script is not to blame as Franco's light-to-dark transition is handled well, spaced out across the course of three films and explored in some depth.
