13 Awesome Films You Forgot Were Christmas Movies
10. In Bruges
Martin McDonagh's outrageously funny dark comedy follows Irish hitmen Ken (Brendan Gleeson) and Ray (Colin Farrell) as they're sent to Bruges for Christmas by their boss Harry (Ralph Fiennes) following a hit gone wrong, in which Ray killed a child. A grim set-up for a holiday film no doubt, but it's hard not to take in the gorgeous, picturesque sights of Bruges without being reminded of Christmas.
That this just so happens to be an existential drama with outrageous dialogue ("You're an inanimate f***ing object!")., tons of drug use, hookers and a dead dwarf should do little to impact its status as a bonafide Christmas flick.
Though not as strictly festive as many other films on this list, it's perfect counter-programming for anyone sick of cloying, overly sentimental holiday fare.
