"Hey everyone."

Even though many are already deeming this summer's movie slate "the summer of disappointment" and box office bombs have not-so-coincidentally been oddly prevalent these past few months, it's important to remember there has been some pretty amazing moments in some of the tentpoles.

Now, not all of these movies were great or even good (hell, several of them were straight-up disappointing), but they undeniably nailed it during these sequences of intense and sustained action, admirable character work and, well, a certain member of the Pulp Fiction cast pretending to be an orangutan.

Before we transition into Oscar season very soon, it's important to remember that not everything flopped or sucked as of late, and these scenes alone ensured summer 2016 wasn't the trainwreck many expected (and possibly hoped) it to be.

Here are the 13 best scenes from 2016's summer blockbusters...

13. The Athens Chase (Jason Bourne)

The Scene: Nicky (Julia Stiles) meets up with Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) in the middle of an anti-government protest in Athens, and the two are quickly targeted by an asset (Vincent Cassel) with a grudge against Bourne. Cue a daring car chase in which Bourne speeds through the streets attempting to evade the asset, which sadly culiminates in Nicky being killed by a sniper bullet.

Why It's Awesome: The new Bourne movie definitely had its problems, but it sure as hell delivered on the action front. The climactic Las Vegas chase might've ended up on this list if the logic was a little more believable (why does the asset cause so much commotion when he tries to escape?), so instead we'll go with the riveting opening chase, which is visually stunning, superbly edited and extremely intense.

Plus, Nicky's death is undeniably important in the context of the Bourne mythos, given that she's been his longest-surviving comrade, and now she's gone.
