Devastation Rating: 10/10 Alongside Bambi's bereavement, Simba losing his father is definitely up there in Horrifically Sad Disney Scenes finalists. The cries of "Dad? Wake up dad? HELP!" will never be forgotten. You might have watched the Lion King for the first time when you were two, seven, twelve or twenty; it doesn't matter. Mufasa's death is practically unbeatable in the emotional impact it has on it's audiences. A child losing a parent is devastating no matter what the circumstances. Disney taught us that loss happens as a part of life, and eventually you will be able to move on. But that doesn't make the dust-covered body of Mufasa and the scared crying lion cub any easier to face up to even as an adult. It still hurts just the same.
