If the Black family were so notoriously anti-Muggle - to the point of extremism, in fact - why on Earth would they buy a house in the middle of a Muggle community?

That's like covering yourself in honey to get over your fear of bees. And it's not like the Blacks seem like the sort of people to go in for exposure therapy...
