The Originals: Richard Donner's 1978 Superman has an inestimable legacy, in large part thanks to Christopher Reeve's unforgettable performance as the Man of Steel. Though the sequel isn't as iconic and suffered through some severe production setbacks, it was nevertheless a worthy successor.

The Threequel: The series sadly fell off a cliff with 1983's Superman III, which placed far too much focus on Richard Pryor's comic relief villain Gus Gorman, touted a generally sillier tone, and felt inferior to the first two movies in every way.

Sure, seeing Clark Kent fight a corrupted version of Superman was pretty cool, but most everything else here was a bust. Still, at least it wasn't Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, which somehow ended up being even worse...
