13 Upcoming Comic Book Movie Scenes Fanboys Are Craving To See

By Edward Owen /

It's never been a better time to be a geek. Hollywood has finally woken up to our potential as a demographic, and panders to our every wish. It used to be that outside of Batman and Superman, anything in spandex was box office poison, a relegate-to-B-movie affair which would die a slow and painful death in the bargain bins of a petrol station. But now, we're treated with a reverence we never quite expected €“ huge budgets are shovelled into efforts to bring our most treasured properties to life, Hollywood actors queue up to ride the superhero machine and packed houses turn up to watch a bout of derring-do or caped crusading. Yes, it's fair to say we've come a long way since the first lot of Captain America films (seriously, google them), or that Dolph Lundgren Punisher movie that totally wasn't anything to do with the Punisher. The fact of the matter is that the geek dollar reigns supreme at the moment, and until Hollywood finds another dormant audience to lavish cinematic delights over (probably randy mums, given the Fifty Shades Of Grey boom), we're going to continue to be spoiled with high quality movies. You might tell that not all superhero movies are of a high quality, and I guess you'd be right €“ X-Men: The Last Stand was no great shakes, Green Lantern was a cringe-worthy embarrassment and the less said about Catwoman, the better. But still, at least these films are being made, and have serious money and talent behind them. After all, when Kenneth Branagh directs Sir Anthony Hopkins in a film about a man with a magic hammer, you know we're being treated somehow, regardless of quality. So with this in mind, I'm casting my eye forward to the further delights we're going to be offered in the future. Because make no mistake, the fields of movie geek-dom are fertile and full of life, and full of amazing moments to come. Yet before I begin, I must point out that a SPOILER WARNING is in effect. Now if you're sitting comfortably, we'll crank up number 13.
