If The Strangers 2 hits cinemas next year as planned, it'll have been a full decade since the moderately entertaining original horror film hit cinemas, scaring up almost ten-times its $9 million budget at the box office.
It's simply surprising that a sequel wasn't quickly pumped out a year or two later, and now, nine years on, it's finally moving forward, when little general interest in the follow-up remains.
Could It Be Any Good?: With director Johannes Roberts (The Other Side of the Door) and writer Ben Ketai (the atrocious The Forest) on-board, it's not looking good.
While after this point it doesn't really matter if Liv Tyler returns or not, simply making people care about a belated horror sequel that might not even get a theatrical release is going to be a tough task.
They're probably better off giving the film a totally new title with the same original antagonists and restarting the series anew, while being ready to get a sequel off the ground should this one (somehow) succeed.
