The Hype: A follow-up to the acclaimed, Tom Cruise-starring 2014 sci-fi actioner Edge of Tomorrow, with Cruise, co-star Emily Blunt and director Doug Liman all set to return.
Why It Won't Happen: Though all the front-line talent seem eager for this to happen, it's important to remember that the original film was a box office disappointment, and so Warner Bros. could easily keep pushing this one back as they find themselves unwilling to enthusiastically pull the trigger.
In addition, Cruise's schedule is mad busy as usual, and Liman has a history of eventually leaving projects when they don't come together in a timely fashion. The years will drag on, and enthusiasm for a sequel will probably drain away.
Why It Still Could: The first movie was an impressive seller on home video, and it seems likely that a sequel would probably gross more than the original at the box office, so it could happen.
