The Buzz: Based on the hugely popular manga of the same name, Adam Wingard (The Guest, You're Next) directs this supernatural thriller about a young man (Nat Wolff) who comes into possession of a handbook that allows him to kill anyone on Earth by simply writing their name in the book.

Backed by an approximate $50 million budget and touting a supporting cast including Shea Whigham, Masi Oka and Willem Dafoe (as the voice of the deathly spirit Ryuk), fans should be hopeful that Netflix will ignore the usual studio pitfalls and give Wingard freedom to deliver a faithful adaptation of the beloved source material.
