Who she almost played: Clearly too talented for a bit part, Chastain passed on the role of Tony’s former flame Maya Hansen for Iron Man 3.

Who she could still play: Since Marvel doesn’t own the film rights to X-Men, they’ve made an effort to push the Inhumans in their place, as such, their queen, Medusa, is positioned to have a massive role in the MCU going forward.

If Chastain does eventually join Marvel, it’ll be in a starring role and Medusa would offer her a powerful, significant place in a major franchise. She’s proven that she can be a tough woman who doesn’t take any crap, now let’s see her do it in space.
