His penchant for surreal visuals and larger-than-life characters in the likes of Brazil, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and many more would make him a fascinating fit for the superhero genre. In fact, he almost made Watchmen in the late 1980s.

How Likely Is It?: Gilliam is 76 years of age, which will undoubtedly work against him, plus post-production on his long-gestating project The Man Who Killed Don Quixote will take up the better part of the next year.

It would be great, but it's really just a pipe dream, especially as Gilliam has a history of bristling against studios, and his films aren't exactly consistent box office hits. 2/10
