14 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy The DCEU
14. It Will Never Replicate Marvel's Success
It's been clear from day one that Warner and DC's desire to build a large-scale cinematic universe was spurred on by Marvel Studios' success with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The MCU has of course enjoyed unprecedented success since kicking off in 2008, with not a single of its thirteen movies flopping critically, while commercially their bigger tentpole movies are firmly in the $1 billion club.
Sadly, though, Marvel got to the gold first, and it's precisely with the DCEU desperately trying to play catch up that they appear to have shot themselves in the foot.
They're rushing through to the big team-up movies in a hurried attempt to grab those lucrative billion-dollar grosses, but Warner would be better off making peace with the idea that though they might grab a billion-dollar movie with Justice League, they're not going to be turning over that kind of money very consistently.
In many ways the DCEU is already heavily compromised by fan response to the three movies released so far, as well as the notion that the DCEU is a transparent attempt to copy Marvel's winning template. The DCEU may well straighten itself out from now on, but it's having a tough time weathering those inevitable franchise growing pains.
