14 Most Disappointing Movies From Summer 2015

7. Maggie

Why It's Disappointing: An art-house zombie film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger is an undeniably irresistible premise, and though it gives him a fine stage to prove his more subdued acting chops, Maggie is also a surprisingly dull, airless drama that doesn't make the most of Arnold's pairing with brilliant young actress Abigail Breslin. What should've been an emotionally devastating look at a man taking care of his dying daughter is only intermittently compelling, shot through with too many meandering, dialogue-free scenes that almost feel like a parody of art-house films (all the more so because Schwarzenegger's presence in a film like this is so bizarre). How To Improve It: Cut at least 10 minutes of walking and intensely staring into the middle distance while giving Arnie and Breslin a few more scenes to build their relationship to the viewer. Also, ramp up the intensity for the finale, which should be a choker but strangely lacks audience involvement.
