14 Movie Trailers That Spoiled Awesome Plot Twists

Of all the many frustrations of movie marketing, overly spoilerific trailers are probably the most complained-about aspect, given how easily they can suck the surprise out of a movie and basically over-saturate audiences with information pre-release.

Just this week, there have been complaints about Mission: Impossible - Fallout's trailers giving away unnecessary plot details that were best left wrapped-up, and it sadly doesn't seem to be a trend that's going away any time soon.

Director Robert Zemeckis, whose trailer for Cast Away famously spoils just about the entire movie, once famously commented that studies show a large portion of audiences like to know exactly what they're paying money to see, which perhaps explains the tactic.

In the case of these 14 movies, though, some nifty, potentially jaw-dropping shockers were largely derailed by thoughtless marketing which wanted to get butts in seats even at the expense of the director's vision.

Given how unnecessary these botched twists were, it's clear that there needs to be greater communication between filmmakers and marketing departments...
