14 Problems Nobody Wants To Admit About The DC Extended Universe
10. The Lack Of A Clear Franchise "Godfather"
One of the major things attributed to the MCU's huge success is the fact that mega-producer Kevin Feige has served as its "Godfather" ever since the beginning, overseeing each individual film and ensuring a consistent-ish level of quality across almost 20 blockbuster movies.
The DCEU sadly seems to lack such a stalwart figure, what with Zack Snyder being neither acclaimed in his overseer role nor currently capable of giving it the attention it needs with his unfortunate family issues.
Then there's Joss Whedon, who is finishing production on Justice League and is planning to helm the upcoming Batgirl movie, though has been assailed by a fleet of personal accusations from his ex-wife which undeniably harm his image as a woke feminist filmmaker. Will Warner Bros. want to risk the PR minefield of appointing him as their new leader?
The DCEU admittedly seems more interested in creating a "brain trust" with Whedon, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, Aquaman director James Wan and The Batman's Matt Reeves being overseen by Geoff Johns. Could this ultimately result in a case of too many cooks?
Either way, the lack of a clear, public figurehead is pretty worrying five movies in, and needs to be rectified ASAP.
