14 Times Comic Book Movies Completely F*cked Iconic Villains
5. Blob (X-Men Origins: Wolverine)
In The Comics
Though some will insist that a supervillain whose powers and menace can be summed up by the word "fat" isn't worthy of note, Blob was a great addition to the X-Men rogues gallery, mostly because of his characterisation around his physicality.
He was initially brought in as a prospective X-Men recruit, but turned off the heroes with his obnoxiousness and his superiority complex, which ultimately led to him trying to steal Xavier's technology and take over the world. He was inelegant, but over the years he's developed into a genuinely interesting villain with an impressive array of powers (which make him mostly invulnerable) and the best kind of bad attitude.
He also memorably ate the Ultimate Universe's Wasp, which was something.
On Film
Blob is a joke - the result of one of Stryker's Team X (Fred Dukes) - who develops an eating disorder after his active duty comes to an end, and whose physicality is designed as a grotesque, throw-away gag rather than part of his powers and appeal.
The story effectively introduces him as a snitch on Stryker and Creed, removing his fearless attitude and swagger with a self-consciousness and a puppy dog romantic spirit that is as alien to the source character as common decency and restraint.
